About Me
Welcome, I'm Madison!
Meet your photographer
How exciting to meet you, i’m Madison!
I am twenty two years old and consider myself to be a pretty outgoing and sometimes silly person. I am adaptable, patient, independant and kind. I live through being creative- it takes up so much of who I am! You can always catch me trying out new ways to let my creativity pour, rather it is learning to make candles, embroidery, wood burning or painting! However, photography is my main (and favourite) practice.
I consider myself to be an everything photographer. I do not feel I have one standard “thing” or “subject” that I shoot. I find myself doing a bit of everything which makes me so adaptable! However, working with people has always been extra exciting for me! Someday I dream of doing editorial photography and working with big names. For now- I focus on those “in between” moments of photography. The kind of moments that capture the real and authentic truth of my subjects. If you are looking for someone to hype you up who is adaptable, reliable and fun- I’m your lady!
My Story
My photography journey started in junior high. Initially I wanted to be an art teacher but unfortunately math is not my strongest suit and my teacher told me without math, I will not be able to be a teacher. Looking back I regret letting someone dictate what I can and cannot do. However, here I am. Somewhere during this time I took a bad photo of a peacock on my parents' Iphone. I remember getting so much praise for this image, it felt like something i've never experienced before. From that moment on, I decided to chase that feeling- through photography.
I remained a hobbyist photographer through highschool, which led me to apply to NSCAD University. I was thankfully accepted and moved to Halifax in Fall of 2018 to attend. Ironically I wanted to attend NSCAD in hope to eventually become a landscape photographer, but shifted during my second year once realizing how each interaction with portraiture was so different from the other. I am proud to share that I've worked hard to achieve my BFA, majoring in photography! I also graduated with the Arthur Lismer award for academic excellence for achieving a gpa of 3.7 or higher. Through my time at NSCAD I've learned so much about my creative process and how to view differently. The four years I attended the school were challenging, but aided in finding myself as a maker. I’ve also had the pleasure of obtaining my drone license in summer of 2021 which allows me to comfortably utilize my drone. I feel these skills separate me from other photographers.
Where I am now
I have now moved out of Halifax and am based in the Musquodoboit Valley. I have been keeping in touch with the commercial but also creative side of photography and I have been enjoying every minute of it. Every time I pick up my camera I am reminded why I love what I do. I am blessed to work with such amazing people, brands and businesses. Finishing school and moving has been challenging but I am grateful for the support from my clients.
